Irish Symbols

The Trinity Knot - as used extensively in the book of Kells is a building block for all Celtic art work. The Trinity Knot symbolizes The Holy Trinity, having no beginning and no end.

The Shamrock is the national emblem of Ireland and gained popularity from it's legendary use by St. Patrick to typify The Holy Trinity.

The Claddagh symbolizes Love, Loyalty and Friendship. The heart is for love, the crown is for loyalty and the hands are for friendship. The Claddagh originates from Galway and was traditionally used as a wedding ring. Because of its historic origins and romantic appeal the popularity of the Claddagh has increased in recent times.

The Harp, largely associated with Hibernia - an ancient personification of Ireland, is extensively used by The Irish Government as our National Logo.

The Spirals of New Grange date back to 3000 years BC. These designs were cut into stone, and adorn the entrance to the infamous burial ground of the high kings of Ireland.

The Celtic Cross is seen extensively across Ireland. Most notable crosses can be seen in Monasterboyce and Kells.
